Today, a slate of 5 candidates announced they will run for Frederick County Board of Education in 2022. They are calling their slate “Education not Indoctrination slate”

I reached out to Mark Joannides for comment and asked him “What motivates you to seek this office”

“What motivated me and us was realizing that it is not the leaders today that make our Great America, it's the Future Leaders in our kids that are getting indoctrinated in our schools with Socailist/Communist/Marxist ideaolgy , which will ruin our country when they become adults. They are taught to hate America, that the white man is the oppressor ( but the white man elected obama for two back to back terms) . It makes no logical sense.”

I also asked him what qualifications he has.

“I'm qualified like anybody else is qualified if they have passion and Courage. The so called ”qualified" are ruining our kids. We/I will put the kids first, always. I have run multiple businesses for 32 years, put together million-dollar budgets, hired many many many public school kids and have seen the product of Teresa Alban. The “actual” qualifications are being a resident and being registered to vote. There are over three hundred thousand people in this County over 40,000 kids and somewhere between 60 and 80000 parents. If you do the math that means majority of people in this County have no children in the school system, everyone in this county is qualified if they so desire and if they have passion and courage to do it.”

I also reached out to Olivia Angolia, a candidate affiliated with the slate for comment and asked her “What in your past qualifies you to be on the Board of Education?” She says “What motivated me most is the fact that I'm about to start trying to have a baby and that I'm already very concerned about putting my future children in public schools. One of the first things we discussed is home schooling. I've only been out of fcps for 12 years, and I know the system was just pushing people along back then even though they weren't prepared for higher education or life and can only imagine how much worse its gotten. I have managerial experience and have worked with all kinds of people and consider myself good with people. And i care”

Currently, no incumbents have filed to run for Re-election. Jay Mason, Karen Yoho, Liz Barrett, And Brad Young are all up for Re-Election to the Board of Education.

The 2022 Primary election in Maryland is scheduled for June 28, 2022 with the General Election set for November 8, 2022.
